The FAQ about this search engine ! please read this carefully before sending me mail... Mails regarding any of those questions will be ignored ! Q: Why is none of those crappy links working ? A1: Well, this might have several reasons : A server that isn't permanently online, a network split somewhere in the world, or just that the people who run the server had to shut it down... Another reason might be that the files are just moved to another location on the server. Then you have to log in and look for that file for yourself or wait for the next update of the database. A2: Another reason for a link not working might be that the server has a ratio which i cannot check at the moment. In this case the error message (there is no such file) is wrong. You just cannot download it without uploading something onto this server. If this is the case you better use a standard ftp program. A3: The third and most likely reason is that the servers are just FULL. This means that there is a limit of simultanous users at a time for those server. The problem is that those server return weird infos when there are too many users so your browser might show wrong info like The password is incorrect though the login is still correct. If you wanna see the correct message, get a real ftp client like CuteFTP or ws-ftp. A good point to check if the file might still exist is the last update field in the header for each server returned by the engine. If the links are older that 2 or 3 days there might be a possibility that the server is down permanently. Q:What timezone are the times displayed on the result page ? A:All the times shown beside the last checked text are in EST (Eastern Standard Time) Q:The server always tells me: too many users... A:This is no error... this is reality... you have to try again and again and again... or use a ftp client that supports redialing (but be sure to set the redial period to more than 30 seconds). Q:When I try to download a song with my browser I either get strange characters or the download stops after a second...A1:When you get strange characters, try holding down the shift-key while pressing the link. This should bring up the fileselector where you can enter a name under which the file will be saved. A2:When the download stops after a second you should try using a REAL FTP client like CuteFTP or ws-ftp which you should do anyway.... because some of the servers don't allow downloading with a WWW-browser. Q: I'm trying to connect to your ftp server but it won't let me in....can you... ? A: WRONG ! The links provided in this search engine point to ftp-servers somewhere in the world. I do not run a ftp-server as I don't offer any MP3 files. Q: The login/password changed ! Can you send me the new one ? A1: NO ! The only things I have are in the engine. If it isnt correct anymore I can't help... A2: Another reason might be that the server is just full (maximum number of simultanous users reached) and the server just returns the wrong error message. Q: What is a Ratio-Server? A: A Ratio-Server is a ftp-server where you have to upload a file before you can download what you want. This way those people also get something for offering you the files. When you want to download a file from a Ratio-Server you have to use a standard ftp tool (no WWW browser) because you cannot send files to them via your WWW-Browser. When you log into those servers it tells you what ratio they have (ie. 1:10, this means upload one MB, download ten). Q: Your engine says this site has no ratio but it has! What gives? A: Well, the engine checks each site using the "Search Engine Account" that is different from the account normal users have. This is usually setup by the siteops. Sometimes siteops create no ratios for the engine account and so the engine reports "No Ratios". We rely to a certain degree on the honesty of the siteops, but this will all change soon. Q: My browsers says : "The server returned extended information" What does that mean ? A: This means, that the ftp-server you were trying to connect to sent you some error message about your login. Probably the server is just tooo crowded (too many users online at a time). But to be sure about the cause of this message you should use a standard ftp tool (no WWW browser) to connect to the server and have a look at the error message sent back by this server ! If you send me any complaints about non working links then please include the following information about it, otherwise i cannot help you : 1.) The error message that was given to you by your client, 2.) Server name and port nr. Q: I am looking for the song ..... can you help me ? A: NO ! If you enter the name of a group or song into my engine and get no results, I have no other way to find those songs. I will NOT look up songs for you. You can either a) check out another search engine and hope to find it there, or b) go to your local record shop and BUY that song... Q: I found a song with your engine but can't get into the server because its full. Can you send me the song by mail ? A: Again, NO ! I don't have those songs listed in the engine for myself. I just offer links to files. And i will not download mp3-modules for other people and send them around.... You have to try try try to get what you want.
